In a pretty grim return on their investment, the Los Angeles Rams have traded 2014 No. 2 overall pick OT Greg Robinson to Detroit for a 2018 sixth-round pick, reports Adam Schefter. Robinson, who was among the haul of picks the Rams received in the RGIII trade, has been a huge disappointment. The Auburn product never impressed and, after showing up overweight to camp in 2016, was a healthy scratch twice during what proved to be his final season with the Rams. Because of some musical chairs on the O-line, there wasn’t going to be a place for him to start in L.A. this year. The signing of veteran left tackle Andrew Whitworth this winter prompted the Rams to move Robinson to the right side, where they initially said he could compete at the guard position. They backed off on that, preferring to move Rob Havenstein from right tackle to right guard, and 2015 draftee Jamon Brown—also a natural guard— has been getting the first-team snaps at right tackle. So getting a sixth-round pick is better than getting absolutely nothing. The Lions, meanwhile, are taking a flyer on Robinson. LT Taylor Decker will miss at least some of the regular season after undergoing surgery to repair a torn labrum, and Robinson will at least have the chance to compete for that job with former Bills tackle Cyrus Kouandjio, who they also signed today. Because the Rams did not pick up Robinson’s fifth-year option, he’ll be a free agent after this season—the Lions aren’t risking much here. Maybe Robinson, still just 24, will benefit from having new coordinators, and as one of the worst run-blocking tackles in the NFL, he seems a decent fit for the Lions, who called the fewest rushes of any team in the league last year. But there’s no dancing around it: He’s been a bust. Especially in a 2014 draft that saw 19 pro bowlers picked or signed after he was taken.

Sunderland have completed the signing of former Everton and West Brom forward Victor Anichebe, the club announced on Friday.
Anichebe joins on a one-year deal as the club s ninth signing of 2016-17.
